Taras Shevchenko Museum - 1614 Bloor Street West Toronto, ON M6P 1A7

On October 20 2013, at the Taras Shevchenko Museum in Toronto, art lovers will be offered the opportunity to view a solo exhibition of floral paintings by Hedy Catherina Scambia. Born in Austria, trained in Vienna Academy of Art, Hedy has many passions besides floral art that accompany her life. Among them are sculpting, graphic art and fashion design. When painting in watercolor, her favorite subjects are floral and still life. "I come alive when I see flowers, they are so happy, they bring smile to my face," Hedy says. Expressing  her joy of life through her work, Hedy gives her form and perspective to her beloved flowers.Lilacs look alive and ready to perfume the air, irises are waiting to be picked off the painting, and the happy faces of daisies gloxinia look like they will brighten the darkest day. Today Hedy's paintings are in many private and corporate collections in Canada, United States, Austria and Germany.

The exhibition to be held at the Taras Shevchenko Museum, 1614 Bloor Street West (East of Keele), begins with an opening reception at 3:00 pm on Sunday, October 20, and will continue until November 30, 2013. The museum is open Monday to Friday, 10 am to 4 pm, Thursdays 12 noon to 8 pm.
