Join us for a SASH-WEAVING WORKSHOP where you will learn to make a traditional, Ukrainian wool sash (known as kraika) on a backstrap loom. During this 2-day workshop, you will be taught to wind and thread a simple warp through a wooden heddle, and to weave with it tied to your back. Additionally, you will learn foundational concepts, weaving terms, and basic patterns. All materials for the session are included. No previous experience is necessary.
Instructor Bozena Hrycyna, who brings passion and experimentation to her art, has a deep connection with the world of textiles! She loves embroidery, fabric and straw-weaving, the craft of clothes-making, and much more. Come and feel the mystery and joy through the work of your hands.
