"Portraits of a Genius"

At 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2006, a wine and cheese reception launched a new art exhibition, "Portraits of a Genius".

This unique exhibition features portraits of Taras Shevchenko, 1814-1861, renowned Ukrainian poet, artist and humanist with self-portraits and his portraits by other artists in many genres: oils, watercolours, drawings and graphics, marquetry, wood burning and embroidery, all of artistic merit.

Visitors are also welcome to view the permanent exhibits that include rare one-of-a-kind items and the very extensive Shevchenkiana Research Library which includes many copies of Shevchenko's poetry and prose, over 120 editions of his immortal "Zapovit" ("Testament"), and a wide range of academic essays, commentaries, articles and reference work.
